Buckle up, K-Pop stans, YG has a new girl group on deck: BabyMonster! You might be familiar with YG as the home of iconic K-Pop stars like 2NE1 and, of course, Blackpink.

This is the first girl group to come out of the company in seven years, and anticipation is high. In a series of videos over the first half of 2023, YG introduced seven multinational trainees to the world. Weve got Ruka and Asa from Japan, Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand, and Ahyeon, Haram, and Rora from Korea. Ranging in age from 21 to 14, some seem to really earn the Baby in the group name, while their skills are all Monster. As in Monster Rookie. Each girl has been touted as an all-rounder: Equally strong singing, dancing, and rapping, as well as being multilingual. We were able to get a taste of what to expect when YG publicized the final evaluation process on YouTube.

Producer Yang Hyun-suk shocked fans by announcing that not all seven would make the final lineup. However, in May of 2023 he reversed course, citing public demand. Now with the group set, were just waiting on that final debut date.
