How to make a singing glass. Experiment. The finger induces lineal vibration, which spread lengthwise the brim. Sliding along the brim of the glass, finger touches microscopic granulations of its surface. As a result a range of power impulses occurs, which makes molecules of crystal vibrate in two directions at a time. This leads to the movement of liquid. Vibrations are being spread in the air and there also are waves. That time we hear the sound. Empty and full glasses sing differently, because liquid influences the high-pitch of the sound. Those who make the experiment should know that fingers must be ideally clean and a bit wet to make the glass sing.
