The Warsaw Uprising took place in 1944 and it was a major World War II operation, the goal of which was to liberate Warsaw from German occupation. In the uprising the Polish underground resistance, led by the Home Army, took part.
The uprising supervened the withdrawal of German forces from Poland caused by the entrance of the Soviet army. Approaching Warsaw from the East, the Red Army temporarily halted combat operations. This allowed the Germans to regroup and defeat the Polish resistance movement and equate the city with repression. The uprising took place for 63 days with almost no outside help. It was the greatest military effort taken by the European resistance movement during World War II.
The teenagers from the Go Against the Tide TV produced a video tribute for the insurgents in the Warsaw Uprising. Also, dr Olgierd Kaltenberg, whose uncle fought in the uprising, and Marian Kowalski.
