When people think of women in combat during WWII, they usually picture the Soviet snipersbut thats only part of the story.
Across the Eastern Front, Soviet women flew bombing raids as the Night Witches, drove tanks, manned machine guns, and sabotaged Nazi supply lines. Millions servedsome at the front, others in partisan warfare.
In the West, women werent officially allowed to fight. But dozens joined Britains Special Operations Executive, parachuting into Nazi-occupied Europe as spies and saboteurs. Many never returned.
