Dodał: IT'S HISTORY
Everyone knows the Hollywood Sign but for a brief moment in the 1920s, it had a glowing rival. High above Los Angeles, massive red neon letters spelling OUTPOST lit up the Hollywood Hills, stopping traffic and redefining the skyline. At 30 feet tall per letter, it was one of the largest neon signs in America and then, almost overnight, it vanished.
In this episode of Its History, we uncover the rise and fall of the Outpost sign: from its roots in Hollywoods very first home, to real estate ambition, myth-making, and blackout orders during World War II. Why was it built so big, why was it removed so quietly, and how did its remains sit forgotten for decades just steps from Runyon Canyon until hikers rediscovered them in 2002?
