Did I just spot a Hummingbird in Europe?
While filming in the garden, I caught this incredible creature hovering over flowers and drinking nectar just like a hummingbird. But heres the twist: true hummingbirds dont exist in the wild in Europe!
This is actually the Hummingbird Hawk-Moth (Macroglossum stellatarum) one of the most fascinating day-flying insects on Earth. It mimics a hummingbirds exact flight mechanics, hovering with rapid wingbeats and extending a long proboscis to feed.
In this video, get a close-up look at this unbelievable insect in action and see why so many people mistake it for a real hummingbird!
