This week on Media & Games Insight: YouTube Premium is our the media giants answer to the heavy-hitters in the online video streaming space, but has it got what it takes to beat out Hulu and Netflix?

#YouTube released their version of internet TV, YouTube Red, in 2015 in a bid to take some of the colossal market share that was being hoarded by a select few streaming platforms. By 2018, YouTube Red became YouTube Premium and the YouTube began to split its paid services into YouTube Premium as well as YouTube Music.

YouTube Premium has been steadily responsible for more and more content on the platform, with famous influencers such as Shane Dawson, Liza Koshy and Logan Paul all taking center stage in their own YouTube Originals.
