Officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Border Patrol agents apprehended the largest group of migrants ever in El Paso on Wednesday.

CBP officials said 1,036 migrants crossed the border west of the Bridges of the Americas around 4 a.m.

CBP said all the migrants were from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

The group included 934 family members, 63 unaccompanied minors, and 39 single adults. They were taken into custody for processing and initial medical screenings. They will remain in U.S. Border Patrol custody until they are processed.

In the month of May alone, Border Patrol apprehended 45 large groups totaling more than 7,900 migrants.

Border Patrol has apprehended 180 groups in the southwest border.

President Trump initially shared a surveillance video of the migrants crossing the border. CBP confirmed the information shortly after.
